NYFW // The Laptop Perspective

We're halfway through the first of our four fashion weeks for the newest season and as usual, New York has not disappointed. There have been stellar line ups on the catwalk (DVF anybody?), a couple of unfortunate falls (who was waxing the floors at Givenchy?) but a lot of things to get excited about. For those of you who have been out of the loop (the beginning of sixth form has interfered with my involvement undoubtedly), here are the things you need to know about NYFW so far...

Carolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2016 NYFW

Gigi Hadid for Tommy Hilfiger NYFW S/S 2016

Kendall Jenner for DVF NYFW S/S 2016

Candice Swanepoel for Givenchy NYFW S/S 2016

Backstage at Jeremy Scott NYFW S/S 2016
  1. Lace is having a big moment- courtesy of Carolina Herrara's beautiful show everyone is to become as pretty as a picture. A delicately billowing dress in powder pink is the key to a picturesque summer
  2. Tribal instincts reign supreme- Tommy Hilfiger showcased some serious attitude down the runway this week, adorning his models in African inspired prints and ethnic crochet, all tied up with Hilfiger's signature style
  3. DVF has friends in high places- thought didn't we just know it? What with veteran DVF model Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Lindsey Wixson and both Gigi and Bella Hadid gracing the catwalk, it seems that Dian Von Furstenberg has been accepted into the model squad of the moment
  4. Givenchy proved to be an obstacle course of sorts- with both Victoria's Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel and Pooja Mor taking a tumble on the catwalk, it was surely an eventful show. Regardless of these fumbles, both models proved their professionalism and walked on. Who knows, if it weren't for Naomi Campbell's infamous tumble at Vivienne Westwood, would we know her as well as we do now?
  5. Jeremy Scott loves us all- if you tweeted @ITSJEREMYSCOTT and #REMOTECONTROLCAM during his show this evening, you would have received a tweet back from the main man himself with a snapshot of his show from the moment you tweeted him. While we may not have been cordially invited to any of the fashion weeks this year (yet), this is one way of bringing us closer to his collection
With 3 days of fashion left in New York, it's time to cram in as many live streams as possible, and see what else can be added to the list.
